Everyone can do it, just that we must find a way that is effective in controlling our own emotion. Not only for genting, there are many stocks which I bought go through volatilities. Like I bought DBS in Q1 sgd14.68, it rebounded to sgd16 plus n now at current price. I bought tvb at hkd26.90 it went up to hkd31 or 32 n now down to hkd28.
Some may think I' m very stupid for nt taking profit, especially my Grandmastress Famouspinky will think so. However when I look at a stock I always compare its fair value to my purchase price n not the day to day share price. Hence, I always see profit in my investments, just that I have not taken it that' s all, hence I' m not affected by the daily volatilities. My concern is always the earning n fair value of a company.
I think most ppl will not be able to apprehend such thinking, if this way doesn' t work for u, u will have to find a way that is suitable for u to control your emotion. Investment is about mindset, very minimum IQ needed, once our mindset are firm n clear we will be able to hold a stock longer. Warren Buffett is not only respected for his investment wisdom, his abilities to hold a stock for few decades is something only a few ppl can do it in this universe 🙂

Hi guys,Another real life example of investors being misled by net profit performance. genting clocked a stellar Q3 net profit performance primarily due to a derivative loss registered in Q3 2015, which was a one off expense n should be taken out for adjustment.
This is similar to someone who sold its share at loss last year n resulted a lower net income. This year he didn' t sold any share n thus when compared to last year, his income rocket tremendously. In fact, his income did not grow at all. Hence, we can see how majority public are being misleaded by accounting entries n lead to volatilities in share price.
Nevertheless, my very big congrat to those who profitted at sgd0.82 n u guys can buy many delicious drumsticks to celebrate. Thank you 🙂
Wynn share price plunged 9% due to weak result. This is the reason I said don' t follow me to buy galaxy entertainment at hkd29.20 bcos it does not offered adequate margin of safety n once it' s earnings are not up to expectation prices can plunge very quickly n investors can be trapped. Again, this is another example to show that trading is very dangerous especially when trade above valuation. Again to re-emphasize I do not mean Macau business is getting bad, I' m referring to the important of adequate safety margin in buying a stock.
Those who have not bought genting sg should considered to do so if it price fall back to sgd0.75 or below. Our local casino is far cheaper than Macau n over time we will also be able to earn a reasonable return from it. Thank you 🙂

Yesterday (3 November), Wynn Resorts, the parent company of WYNN MACAU (01128.HK) -0.260 (-2.269%)
Short selling $71.61M Ratio 28.040%
, announced the result for the third quarter ended 30 September 2016, posting a disappointing result in Macau segment. The share price of Wynn Resorts plunged over 9% yesterday to US$87.53 at close. However, its share price has recorded over 20% growth year-to-date.
The revenue of Wynn Palace during the six weeks after its opening on 22 August amounted to US$165 million, below market expectation of US$169 million. Nomura analysts believed that due to strong market competition, Wynn Palace made a mistake by having insufficient marketing and promotion on its mass segment before the opening, and the analysts expected the group outlook to remain challenging in the coming 6 to 18 months.
so sad. I think M1 is being affected by the sell-down of starhub.

Subject: SIA Valuation
announced Q2 and 6 months financial results. Q2 and 6 months operating earnings increased by 5.9% and 13.2% on a year on year basis. My own assessment of its fair value stand at SGD12.89 and ideal entry price at SGD8.74 or below. Thank you 🙂

Subject: Genting Singapore Valuation
announced its Q3 and 9 months financial results. Both Q3 and 9 months operating earnings fell 28% and 30% on a year on year basis, pretty disappointed, sigh. On a trend basis, Q1 operating earnings fell 13%, Q2 operating earning fell 46%, Q3 offered some improvement but it is still too early to indicate any recovery yet. My own assessment of its fair value based on current earnings is revised down from SGD0.83 to SGD0.82 and ideal entry price at SGD0.75 or below.
As mentioned previously, my own position was taken in Q1 at SGD0.73 and i will only liquidate based on my own projected long term value at SGD1.03 and this is not inclusive of potential value to be derived from its Jeju joint venture. However, those who wish to sell at its current estimated fair value are free to exercise their own judgement. Below are analysts reference as second opinion. Thank you 🙂

Willisow,I agree with many of things you say. They are very good to read especially the stories on San Guo.
But hor... If i have short cut to make 26 mil I should try right? Slow and steady how to compound to 26 mil for most of us?

News reported ex Bsi banker, yeo jiawei made 26 mil at age 32, very stunning young man. But no use, wealth accumulated through improper means only let himself ended up in jail, 君 子 爱 才 , 取 之 有 道 . He not only going to land up in jail, he lost his career, credibility, will b despised by others n lost the trust of his friends n relatives.Likewise to those who try to short cut in the stock mkt by doing insider trading, manipulation of the stock mkt n etc will also end up in jail. The Chinese said 欲 速 则 不 达 , if we try to go short cut, most likely we will fall very hard. Thus, never have the illusion that stock mkt is a magician that can help us become a millionaire overnight.
Be prudent n realistic, accumulate our wealth step by step over time. Most important rule for investment is to protect our capital as priority n not making money. Heaven will help those who help themselves. Thank you 🙂

Hi guys,I have shared about stanchart valuation n if we take a look at its share price, even thought it had fallen about 7% today it is still trading above my valuation. When we look at both stanchart n DBS performance till date are just like earth n heaven. Stanchart year to date earnings down 22% n DBS is up 10%. Stanchart is trading above valuation n DBS is trading below valuation.
I used the same valuation model for both banks as well as all companies, if Stanchart, a weaker bank in term of earnings can trade above valuation, y can' t DBS? Once again, from these two banks we can see that short term share prices have no correlation with its earnings. Stanchart performed better in term of share price is bcos hsi is blessed with optimisim which is likely due to sz-hk connect as a catalyst.
Thus, once a catalyst emerge in STI, DBS will rocket n my valuation of sgd20.27 is highly achievable. We won' t know when this catalyst will emerge, but certainly it will definitely appear bcos this is not the first time STI had a catalyst to jump start a bull run.
Now we have every condition ready for a bull run, DBS current pe ratio is the second lowest to 2008. Prices are cheap relative to its fair value. If short term negative news such as u.s election, rate hike n etc going to impact on its share price, it will b a best case scenario to continue buying more shares cheaply.
We should look at business from a longer term point of view n not focus on short term mkt fashion of macro news. There is no ending to such fashion, now everyone watching on u.s election, follow by rate hike, thereafter Brixit n thereafter it will b something else. Mkt will always come up with fashion n story that have no direct relation to the business fundamental. When we follow all these fashion, there is no benefit except it create greed n fear to our emotion.
Those who bought DBS at a good price, I urge u to think twice, thrice or more before u sell, it is not every day so lucky that u can buy a wonderful company at cheap price. Again, I' m saying this not bcos I hope that u will stay put to support DBS price, I don' t have to do that bcos if u were to sell, fund managers n institution investors will be happily buying from u. They are certainly eyeing hungrily for anyone who let go their dbs shares. I' m preaching on a good will basis n we will definitely be rewarded for being patience. Thank you 🙂
