Without inflation, u need 480k. How I guesstimate is to double that amt to factor a 3% inflation (roughly only lah, no Excel spreadsheet used). So, by my primitive method, u need 1 mil. But is 2k sufficient? To start with, even at today' s price, 2k like buay kau leh.

One question, if you reach the age of 65 and you have zero income for whatever reason. You need 2k for expenses a month and you can live to the age of 85.How much do you need?

In some parts of China, the retirees are really enjoying retirement. Retirement or monthly pension payout, appreciation of their properties prices.

In Netherlands, they have quality retirement lifestyle too.

And well, Greece....retirement early , laze around on the account of Euro zone . Hehe .

There is no country for old folks to live a decent life.....be it man or woman anywhere in this present moment. Just look at euro now coping with the fugitives from Middle East, Africa and Afghanistan. Sad to see....so be happy with what you have got

I dun think its hard for low to middle income to retire. I think its cannot retire for low income. For middle income likely need to downgrade hdb or move to jb. Even eat salted egg salted veggie 3 meals a day costs couple hundreds a mth...not forgetting medical cost

Sadly soon many SMEs will go bust or downsize resulting in job cuts. Many people are already cutting expenses to bolster finances. Dark days indeed.
