Time to buy ............soon.

Singapore Airlines | Sell

Target price: S$9.99

Sept 7 close: S$10.67

Citi Research.

We have slashed our estimates significantly this year and next, and are now 5-12 per cent below FY17/18 consensus. While we like the reintroduction of the non-stop San Francisco route this October, the competitive climate remains challenging particularly for premium travel/yield. At 23 times 2017E price-to-earnings, the shares remain expensive in our view, and we reiterate our sell recommendation. Given better leisure trends versus weak business/premium demand, we continue to prefer the low cost carriers like AirAsia and IndiGo to Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific. Within developed Asia, we prefer SATS.

No problem, different people see things differently due to their background, experience and expectations. Everyone is entitled to his own view.

U are right. I can understand how Investshare feel, given the severity of the issue n I have pts of my own which I feel are not appropriate to be discussed here. But we need to understand that these are notifiable diseases n the first pt of identifying a potential case is usually a medical practitioner.

Sorry, I dun feel this way as a Singaporean. How do one be proactive about an outbreak that produces zero to mild symptoms on most people?

Singapore is honest and dared to own up. Other countries may NOT even know or chose to be silent about it.

Instead of playing it down, Singapore is doing her control by playing it up, warning citizens that it may spread beyond affected areas. While it may set a temporary negative impact to tourism, I' m confident SIngapore will do well in controlling Zika just like how it' d done well in managing SARS.

MOH has failed Singaporean. Instead of proactively going out for signs of outbreak, they took a reactive approach waiting for GP to trigger them. Read that 2 pregnant women affected. Pray that the mothers and babies are safe.

Likely to. Hotel n F& B counters Orchard Rd retail all maybe affected? More importantly is how did we apparently get caught off guard? Will the more worrisome part be how big will the problem become?

This quarter is traditionally the strongest. Peak season. Hard to say if Zika will have impact. Stock has been trending down of late espcially since ex div. Oil down so should be good but really don' t know how dollar strength will impact SQ. Am on the sidelines.

So far, the spread seems quite muted though. Think even if we look at countries such as Brazil n Tailand, spread of the disease seems quite muted.
