Hear before, buy before news and sell on newsEven they have projects they get cash immediately? Do you think there is no implication and just a one way ticket so smooth sailing? Things they build pop up overnight?

wait SGX query then game over
If fully paid, can go longer term. Believe now is just the start of their turnaround . Further results can only be better Imo.
Still waiting for my 100% gain within 1 year. 🙂
don' t think they have turn into profit last Q, maybe reduced losses.
those projects secured recently hasn' t materialize the profit yet
maybe price surge due to speculation only since no announcement over the weekend
hold till results?
No smoke without fire.
Seems that Things are going well and the results should show it
Vard shined among all e oil related counters! Next friday result. V nice chart, today broke out of symetrical triangle, Maybe some good news?
Still very undervalued in my opinion. Their aqauculture (aka fishing raft capabilities) and luxury cruise vessels will be the interesting topic in the upcoming result analysis. Hopefully, we can see good signs of the turnaround story. Upside potential is huge (from $2 to $0.13). Assets are highly undervalued, utilisation of its assets are key.
Lol... understand your comparison btw NC and Vards. i' m only puzzled by the ' timing' of today surge
it is near to election and oil price dropped a lot already. if ppl bought on the basis of good progress / result on Vards so far, then they should have already bought in some times ago and not today.

The goods news is all news from VARD since Q2 are good news. In comparison to another shipbuilder in SGX, Nam Cheong, NC is trading at 0.3 P/BV while VARD is trading at 0.4 P/BV. Is NC cheap in comparison? Purely looking at this you will be misled. The quality of the 0.3 and 0.4 is very different. 0.3 has no contract backing for most vessels NC is building. While VARD' s 0.4 all with backing from contract. So in fact, 0.3 is very risky. So far NC still haven' t annouced any contract wins but in contrast VARD has alot.If NC hit cashflow problem and need fire-sale of asset, 0.3 will then be high. VARD 0.4 is consider safe. Even with 0.7 you are still getting some MOS but to hit 0.7 will need VARD to restart their dividend payout which will be unrealistic in the next year or so.
But I do agree they still need to tidy up their business. Their coming Q3/4 is not going to be explosive. But so far, from open information available, if both VARD and NC were to explode, the manner will be very differnt. One is with fireworks while the other is kaboom!
Anyway, DYODD as usual.

should have good news to announce. can' t be suddenly the odd one out surgingeven if they diversifying, they still got a lot to do to tidy up their business. can' t be this reason.
but i must say Vard is good, if OCBC is accumulating, then there must be a reason for them to do so

VARD is ploughing ahead ignore the fact the oil is now below US$45.Is this a tell-tale sign that market is disentangling VARD with oil price with its diversification strategy?
Is the market telling us that it is beginning to see the bright future of VARD?
Maybe it is just OCBC accumulating behind our back as before?
Who knows!
